MEMORIES AND PASSIONS OF A CITY IN MOTION.

In that far 1968, Miriam exchanged her long black coat up to her ankles with that are redheaded friend and classmate Chicca. The two girls were wearing the same small size and no matter Miriam’s melancholy disposition, the other one was friendly. It was a saturday and sunday, Miriam had a special appointment, that colour change used to make her happy, that feeling was strange for her. Miriam used to like tram paintings and she will be there on sunday, to her dear tram paintings. Some of her classmates that used to attend same school, rented an old basement in a rail house, to sing and play music without disturbing. At that time, it was a common thing. Music for Miriam was nourishing for the spirit, without her, this feeling wouldn’t have begun, then later become tram paintings. That is how on sunday, Miriam wore the red coat and from her house, she took the tram, that took her to that wonderful place, a secret place like a second life. On that tram by that time, it was only her and the driver, it was cold outside, like in the tram painting, the tram was inside the fog. Miriam remembers the cold winter with snow and that sweet intimate sensation of warmness, coming back home those fairy tales lights in the fog that muffles even in the sounds of footsteps and it was hiding to the world the first kiss, the first swallows around the gables of the old houses and at last the blinding sun that used to hold the desire of the beach and at the same time, the regret of the nights at the Naviglio. All this are in the tram paintings. Miriam thinks about a little house with fallen walls with dream colours, that she painted the old floor in pink and lilac, on the window in the yard with red roses embroided curtains, she thinks about the old road in Milan, scenting with forgotten foods and perfumes, and it contemplates the same places, transformed today, but still the same.
